Emily Woolever is a lifelong resident of the mid-Hudson Valley. Her family recently moved to New Paltz/Gardiner. Having graduated with honors with her B.S. in History, her M.S.T in Teaching, and her additional credits in English and Literature, Emily then spent fifteen years as a middle school History and English teacher in both public and private school settings. During those 15 years, Emily was also intensely active in the local theatre community, engaging in various roles that included performance, design, building, and directing. In 2022, Emily decided to return to school for visual arts. She enrolled as a Visual Arts Major at Dutchess Community College and graduated on the President's list with an Associate of Science Degree in December of 2023. Simultaneously, she worked on an online certificate program in Graphic Design through the New York Institute of Art and Design, which she completed in October of 2023. Emily has shown her work in three shows at the Mildred I. Washington Gallery at Dutchess Community College, as well as in public spaces, on T-shirts, and on production sets throughout the Hudson Valley. Emily was the recipient of two Presidential Choice Awards at Dutchess Community College, the first in January 2023 for a piece of her ceramic work and the second in January 2024 for a Charcoal Self Portrait. She was also selected to receive the Dutchess United Educators award for Excellence in Graphic Design.
2024 was a difficult year for Emily and her family, and resulted in Emily taking a hiatus from full-time designing to care for family.
Emily has started 2025 with a BANG - she directed, designed, and built the CENTERstage production of Shrek: The Musical at the Center for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck. It has sold out every performance, and received excellent reviews. As that is wrapping up, Emily is back to pursuing her new career in Graphic Design.
